This was the twilight series of my brother's day. It was an important series because it got kids reading even if they never picked up a book except for school work. Seen the movie? Read the books....I can guarantee that it is just as good if not slightly better. What would you do if your country got invaded over show weekend? What if you and your mates had gone camping and had to turn into soldiers to survive? What would you do to rescue your friends and family and everyone that you knew? Start with this first book in the series and find out what happens to Ellie and Homer and everyone next...

This is the first of the tomorrow series & it is fantastic, really hard to put down. There is a good amount of action and the relationships are so real. Ellie (the main character), is always putting her foot in her mouth and then regretting it - so life-like. The thing I love most about it is the fact that it's just so Australian. Just a great book, a awsome read!

I'd read a lot ABOUT this series and wanted to see what it was all about. I'm far from a kid but I've enjoy other "for young adults" fiction, like Harry Potter and Twilight. This is a great series from John Marsden. It has a real Australian flavour and it takes you back to what it's like to be a teenager! It's not necessarily as well written as the examples I've given, but it's still a great read, I imagine even more if you're in the intended target audience!

This book is one of my absolute favourites! I read it originally when my daughter 'had to read it' for school, and got totally hooked. I then had to find myself the whole set. You will not be disappointed with this one!

It's amazing to read John Marsden's writing. How he can so clearly put himself inside the head of a teenage girl like he does with Ellie and so many other of his characters is unbelieveable. This story, the first of the series, sets up what continues to be an epic story of war seen throught the eyes of teenagers. Once you pick up this book you'll soon want to read the next! and I can assure you, they only get better!

If you're looking for a book to buy for a teenager then this is a great choice. I first read this when I was 12 then eagerly waited for each new book to come out. The characters are very real, honest and likeable, people that teens can relate to and look up to.
I remember when I first read this book, I was really able to put myself in it and wonder how I would have reacted if faced with such a situation.
The story line is amazing but the interactions between the characters is what truly make the story.

The 1st book in the Tomorrow When the War began series is one which cannot be put down. It kept me on the edge of my seat and as a teenager was one of the best books I had ever read. You learn so much about the charecters and about yourself by reading the book. What would you do? Would you fight or would you run? A fantastic book for young and old.
