A very small, compact textbook that I am currently perusing for one of my university units. I love this textbook already.
The size, for starters, amazes me. Weighs virtually nothing, a joy to take with me on travels. But even more than that is the accessibility of the text itself. They Say/I Say describes the methodology of writing for the academic register, demonstrating what is incorrect or unhelpful in essay writing, and what it should ideally be. A lot of students complain about textbooks like this being detrimental to developing academic rigour, as the text gives examples of starting sentences and templates.
These templates are very basic, and just a guide into how one should formally write. It's also very witty and easy to read, so if you're after something like this, try They Say/I Say.
