Across Sudan, between 1987 and 1989, tens of thousands of young boys took flight from the massacres of Sudan's civil war. They became known as the Lost Boys. About the Author

Brothers Alphonsion and Benson Deng and their cousin Benjamin Ajak were relocated from the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya to the United States as part of an international refugee relief programme. They arrived in 2001. Now all in their mid-twenties, Benjamin, Benson and Alphonsion live in California.
