I have found this book very useful in the teaching of free classes.
The first few chapters outline how to go about preparing a class, and preparing yourself for teaching. There are many different teaching styles presenting for your own choice, which allows you to gauge your own class' responses and develop your lessons accordingly.
Following this is a section on managing the ballet class, which includes time management, safety in the studio and teacher-student interaction.
Assessing student progress is the last topic covered in the first section of the book. This covers a variety of ways to give feedback to your students, during class and performances as well as through written reports.
The second section of the book is a step-by-step teacher's planner which will guide you through a class and help you to understand the progression required from a student before they can move on to more complicated movements. It also offers suggestions as to verbal depiction, teaching images and cues, breathing, and errors to look for.
This is a wonderful book, with very clear instructions, often in dot point form for clarity.
