Feisty Merry Stewart is betrothed to Alexander d'Aumesbery and her father and brothers seem keen to move her on as she disapproves of their drinking and behaviour. At first sight of Alex, Merry fears that she is to about to take on another drinker but all is not what it seems. The marriage gets a rocky start but their relationship develops and it looks like love may win out. An unknown, evil influence is at work however, trying to undermine the lovers.
An enjoyable Scottish romance.

I'm not really a fan of Lynsay Sands books, but I thought I might give this book a try.
This is a sequel to the previous book Devil of The Highlands, with the brother of the heroine in the previous book as the hero.
Merewen Stuart lives a life of servitude with her drunkard father and brothers. She longs to escape this living hell through marriage, although she has never met her betrothed. When she comes to his castle she thinks that Alex d’Aumesbery
is no better than her drunkard relatives, however the truth is a little more complicated than that.
This was an okay book, the attempted murder theme was getting kind of tedious but the story sort of grew on me after a while. Not one of the best romances I've ever read but still a nice light historical.
