Lovely little book that makes reading a delight even when you are so depressed the last thng you want to do is read. It is entertaining, enlightening and skillfully presented with its mixture of cartoons and dialogue. All the other books by Bev Aisbett are also worth getting. She obviously understands the illness and is able to explain even complex issues to the reader in a simple and yet comprehensive manner that is intriguing in its style and easiness to read.

In my personal experience of depression, it can be very hard to read anything. Bev's book makes it easier, offers hope and doesn't skip over the hard work necessary to tame the Black Dog.

This book has an overall view of depression which I found quite helpful. It examines not only the symptoms, but also helps you determine causes of depression. It has some valuable information about changing the way you think and the way you look at things. I found the format very good - It enabled me to quickly grasp the main ideas, without having to wade through a lot of psychobabble.

"Taming the Black Dog" by Bev Aisbett, takes its title from how Winston Churchill referred to the depression that plagued him all his life.
It's a pretty basic guide to helping one cope with depression. It's written in cartoon form, with illustrations and speech bubbles, which pretty much put me off. I couldn't really get into the content because of the format.
