Derek Sandhaus was born in Overland Park, Kansas and studied philosophy at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He has written on Chinese history for magazines, blogs, and podcasts. He is the editor of Decadence Mandchoue and the author of Tales of Old Peking.
