String quilts have been around for centuries, but in 'String Quilt Revival' this old-time art is given new life. Authors Virginia Baker and Barbara Sanders show readers how to create these blocks using a new type of foundation: no-show mesh stabiliser, a product that minimises distortion of the blocks and doesn't need to be removed. In addition to learning this new method of construction, readers learn from 13 projects, from potholders to queen-size quilts, each showing a different string block in a fresh and fun colourway. A variation gallery shows the quilts in alternate colourways and block arrangements. Finally, the authors demonstrate two unique finishing methods, allowing readers to find their own favourite way to bind a quilt. As part of "The Create with Nancy" series, the book also includes Notes from Nancy, tips and thoughts throughout the book from Nancy Zieman, and a 30-minute DVD hosted by Nancy featuring the authors demonstrating the techniques and showing the projects.
About the Author
Sisters Virginia Baker and Barbara Sanders were born and raised in Tennessee. Virginia worked for twenty years in the paint manufacturing industry, a job that included colour development and tinting, where she developed a keen eye for colour. Barbara is a happily retired bank vice president. The two founded Wool Sisters, a group for rug hooking, in 2000. Today the group has two informal retreats a year and one camp with a nationally known teacher.
