This is the first title in the Dark Swan urban fantasy series. I fell in love with Richelle Mead's writing style from her Vampire Academy and Succubus series and moved on to this series. It certainly didnt disappoint. As with Rose (VA) and Georgina (Succubus), the protagonist Eugenie is smart, sexy and feisty - and completely believable despite living between two lives - one in Arizona and the other in a fairy world. Eugenie works as a shaman, tending to exorcisms and casting out demons from suburban homes. In her work she is asked to investigate a missing teen who has been kidnapped and taken to the fairy Otherworld. She reluctantly agrees to help and discovers a great deal about herself and her own origins along the way. She also meets the beautiful Kiyo and the strong and handsome fairy king Dorien (with a bondage fetish)- enter the love triangle!
This is adult urban fantasy at its finest. Richelle Mead has done it again!
