A consultant and trainer to 120 U.S. independent and public schools, KIM JOHN PAYNE, MA, has been a school counselor for more than 20 years and a private family therapist for 17. He has also consulted for the South African Schools Federation, the Hungarian Ministry of Education, and educational associations in Israel, Russia, Australia, and the United Kingdom. Payne has worked extensively with the American and UK Waldorf movements. He is currently Project Director of the Waldorf Collaborative Counseling Program at Antioch University, the Director of a large research program on a drug-free approach to attention disorders, and a founding member of the Alliance for Childhood in Washington, DC. The author of the popular parenting guide, Simplicity Parenting, he lives with his wife and two children near Northampton, Massachusetts.
