If you loved Luke Nguyen's television special you will love this book. It has great stories as he travels through his home of Vietnam. And the recipes are easily adapted to the home, and simple enough even for someone who is not so good in the kitchen. The photos and stories make this a great travel book as well. The recipes are just a bonus. This book is defiantly cheaper on fishpond than anywhere else I have seen

This is a wonderful book filled with pictures and recipes that bring to life the sights, sounds and aromas of Vietnam. I'm really enjoying reading Luke's interactions with the Vietnamese people, who are so willing to share their stories, food and recipes. Having recently travelled to Vietnam I am reliving some of my experiences through this book - it really is a true picture of the food, culture and people. There is no shortage of recipes in this book and they are all easily reproduced at home.

I brought this for my husband for Christmas and although it did not arrive in time he still thought it was great. He loves watching the TV series and this book tops it off. The book is huge and has the most beautiful pictures and lovely recipes. Hubby made something the day he recieved the book. I brought it when it was on sale at Fishpond and worth every cent.

I enjoyed this book and the extensive background to regional Vietnamese cooking. A goldmine of tips and methods that adds to the delight of dishing up for family and friends. The book is exciting to read and a visual treat. It's not the definitive list of recipes you might expect but goes well beyond the usual list of dishes. This is not a book for western palates.

The Songs of Sapa was a Christmas present for my husband who is a keen cook. He loved the book and having both travelled throughout Vietnam we both enjoyed reading this most interesting and beautifully presented book. I was happy with the service only down side was 5 days after I ordered the book I noticed that the price had changed and was $10 cheaper than what I had paid for it.
