About the Author

This is Patricia Taylor's first book, her earlier creative passion finding expression in painting. Her interests have taken her into sales, welfare work, administrative office work, manufacturing and decorative art and in organising events to fund raise. She has dabbled in poetry when inspired and loved writing since her school days, when English was her favourite subject. Her mother's story has both fascinated and saddened her since childhood and she has tried to put the pieces together and understand. A yearning throughout her life in the author's heart for an affirming and nurturing mother was fulfilled in the last years of her mother's life. Patricia and her mother forged a very close relationship, and the author recorded the details as Shirley shared her story, finally letting go of the hidden secrets buried deep in her heart. The author wanted to honour her mother by sharing the tragic and yet triumphant truth of her earlier years of hardship. The struggle to embrace a relationship with the God she longed to know was a direct result of the abuses of her childhood. Her final breakthrough was a joyous outcome to watch and Patricia has recorded this in her book. The author's hope is that this book will be a help to those who struggle to accept the Christian faith as a result of experiencing abuse from so called Christian people. Patricia hopes too that this story of the power of forgiveness to set someone free from the past will help those who are struggling to forgive. She also hopes that it will encourage readers that it is never too late for someone to find redemption. Shirley did in her 80's.
