Authors, Jane Martino and James Tutton are co-founders of Smiling
Mind, a not for profit organisation dedicated to providing free
pre-emptive mental health and wellbeing programs via their apps and
website. Jane and James are united by a shared belief that
successful societies are mindful, caring, and thoughtful.
Smiling Mind as an organisation is about making meditation easy.
Via the SM website it offers short guided Mindfulness Meditations
that teach both adults and young people life skills that can
improve stress management, increase levels of attention and prevent
the onset of mental health issues. Smiling Mind has become a widely
recognised brand in the wellbeing space and has attracted a mass
consumer following whilse also building deep and lasting
engagement. Over 500,000 apps have been downloaded from the SM
website and over 5000 institutions use the education program, their
enewsletter goes to 45,000 subscribers, they have 35,000 web visits
every month and 10,000 facebook followers.
Smiling Mind is further guided and supported by fellow directors
and leading authorities, Professor Frank Oberklaid (Royal Childrens
Hospital) and psychologist, Michael Carr-Gregg. Smiling Mind's
programs have been developed by leading psychologists and
psychiatrists.
Jane Martino has a background in building highly successful,
dynamic organisations in both the commercial and not-for-profit
sectors as founder for both the media/communications company,
Undertow Media, and Shout for Good, a fundraising platform for
multiple charitable causes. Jane is the author of a series of
books called The Thank You books published with ACP Books.
James Tutton is an energetic entrepreneur and a passionate
believer in the role that business can play in delivering positive
social and community outcomes. He is the founder of the very
successful Moonlight Cinemas and is now the director and major
shareholder of Neometro, a design-driven and socially-focussed
residential property developer. He is also on the board of social
enterprises, Shout for Good and B Corp.
