Fear of flying puts our intrepid nurse traveller onto a ship bound for china. But Nobody goes that way... except for Lydia. Funny stories, told with humility and grace. Finding her way through beurocracy, going where few western travellers have gone before..look it is Lydia on the great wall of China on a donkey... carrying a pink parasole. One of the most readable travellogues written

Another edition of the travelling nurse. I find her writing easy to read, very funny, and lovely cost effective way to venture into exotic places.
She has a charming way of telling the funny stories that one finds along the way in any vastly differnt culture.
In this trip she ends up in OuterMongolia via Indonesia and China. She doesn't speak the language but makes herself understood and manages to see some amazing sites few westerners would ever have the privilege of seeing.
Thouroughly good read, feels as though you are there.
