If you are interested in walking in Wales, whether it is with your family or not, this is a good book to use. It packs a lot of useful information into a small book. In addition to detailed instructions for the twenty-eight circular walks given, there are quite a few extras. Plenty of maps, instructions for keeping safe, a phone guide to the Tourist Information Centres in the area, a guide to Welsh place names, and a repeat of the Countryside Code (the rules that walkers should generally abide by when going on these outings). The walks are listed by location, but a brief two-page guide at the front of the book divides them by level of difficulty. Some walks are on this list twice, as they can be easy if you use the shortcuts provided or difficult if you take the long way around. This makes it much easier for people who aren't familiar with the area to decide which walk they would like to take. As mentioned in the series title, all these walks are centred around historic locations and landmarks, so someone using this guide can also enjoy the history of the area as well as a pleasant day out. On the whole, a great book.
