Finally, Noah Clayborne’s story! For all you readers of Garwood’s Buchanan series [‘Heartbreaker’, ‘Mercy’ –my favourite- ‘Killjoy’, ‘Murder List’ – my least favourite- and ‘Slow Burn’], we have what Garwood says will be the final instalment for a while, even though there are still other Buchanan brothers in the background. The author didn’t dare, however, put the series on hold without dealing with the womanising Noah, and she has done it exceedingly well. True, Garwood’s characters and dialogue are often a little wooden [except in ‘Mercy’. Did I mention it’s my favourite?] but her secondary characters are always fascinating, and she tells a good story. In ‘Shadow Dance’ Jordan Buchanan is determined not to become an NCG, [Noah Clayborne Groupie], but then they are thrown together in a [I hope] unique small town in backwater Texas, where Jordan discovers a heretofore undiscovered ability to find dead bodies in the boot of her car. FBI agent, and her brother’s best friend, Noah, helps her solve the mystery, and solves one of his own as well: why he always enjoys teasing his partner’s little sister. Because she’s not so little, and he doesn’t think of her as a sister any longer. A good end to the series. I hope there are more in the future.

I was really looking forward to Shadow Dance and while it was still a great read, it didn't quite live up to expectations.
Noah has been a constant from the very first book, apart from the principals, the only continuing character of any consequence, so I thought this would be very special. He is such a playboy that the woman to catch him would have to be pretty remarkable too, so it was with great anticipation that I read Jordan Buchanan was the lucky lady. Alas, while the story was good, it was not great.
Don't be put off, it is still well worth the read.
