I borrowed this from a friend and read it a month or so ago and really enjoyed it so bought this copy as a gift for a friend who is breastfeeding a new baby and wants something besides terrible after midnight TV to occupy her for those feeds. I loved the book. Really good trashy romance/western reading. Linda has created male characters who are real men and act sometimes badly or in anger (as do the real men in my life!) and great strong female characters. Most of the characters have flaws. All in all the McKettricks are great to have in your life for a bit of comforting diversion. High Country Bride (first in series) was great. Secondhand Bride started slowly for me then was engrossing. Have now finished Shotgun Bride (3d) and loved that, just need to get into McKettricks Choice (4th)so i can resolve Holt's unmarried status. It's sitting on my bedside table waiting for me to finish a few other books first. But it's the one I really want to be reading!!

Classic western romance - no thought provoking underlying themes here, just a good old fashioned "paper-back" type romance novel but with an inbuilt ongoing family saga to intrigue you. I read "Shotgun Bride" first then had to go in search of the other ones in the series.
This one is the third in the "trilogy" although there are actually four in this series - High Country Bride, Shotgun Bridge, Secondhand Bride and the last lesser known one is McKettrick's Choice. Recommend you start with the first "High Country Bride" but you can still read them in any order as there is not too many cross-overs.
