Terry Pratchett can do no wrong. Even his weaker works outshine many others better. Very difficult to get this mini series at a good price, but coupled with a voucher and I'm happy. Many don't realise this series is actually a story - often confused with the other maps, cookbooks, biographies, etc.

If you are after the usual Discworld novels, this one is not it - you can still enjoy a decent story every second chapter, if you just want to read something interesting, however every other chapter is a bit of a science lesson. This book, and the other in its series is certainly not for everyone, but if you are interested in science at all (and even if you thought you weren't), this is a decent book to have.

Elves are here, and they do not want our teeth. Instead, they want our planet, called earth by us and Round world by the wizards who created it by accident. However, the wizards take care of their creations (except the Bursar) so they'll drive them off. Provided, of course, that they don't cause more damage then the elves in this silly, but funny, attempt...

The second Science of Discworld book, as the title suggests, narrows its focus. While the first took a lot at the cosmological and astronomical overview, this one changes to a focus on the actual planet, and how it formed and developed. This means in both a discworld sense, and the actual real world science behind our planet, in this simplified form.
