Great book that fully covers the theory and application of schema therapy. It presents the research and then gives many examples of the clinical application and treatment strategies for clients who need more than a short series of cognitive behaviour therapy (who doesn't!). It acknowledges the fact that while CBT is very effective, there are many people who will require a deeper therapy, one that addresses the faulty schemas from childhood. I found this book to be much more useful that I expected it to be and as a result I use this process with many of my clients who need a psychotherapy approach to resolving childhood issues. If you appreciate CBT, but know you need more, then this is the book!

As a psychologist who has utilized Schema Therapy for several years I found that this work far surpassed my expectations.
Schema Therapy, which originally evolved from cognitive therapy, integrates theory and technques from various fields, including behavior therapy, cognitive therapy, gestalt therapy and object relations. This theoretical synthesis is presented in a remarkably straightforward manner that even the beginning therapist will find easy to follow and utilize.
