This book is a must-have for any prospective screenwriter or even a film appreciator who just wants to know how it's done.
The writing style is witty and at times blunt. But not so much as to alienate the reader, more so MOTIVATE them.
Save the Cat is a fantastic piece, I recommend it.

This is a must-have book for every aspiring screen writer. It's user friendly and written by a generous spirit (unfortunately recently deceased) with lots of helpful hints and a way forward through the morass that a script can become. It forces one's attention on the nuts and bolts of writing and never proclaims itself as academic, which can lead to a claim of its being simplistic. I think it's best read in conjunction with Linda Aronson, Linda Segar et al.

Was a great book. It focusses strongly on the commercial side of writing a film script, but does go over all the points you need to write a great story. Not sure it would be for the beginning beginner. But from the higher level beginner to the pro. This book is useful.

This book really was excellent and, shockingly, I don't think I will need another screenwriting book!
It really helped clear the path for me by giving me actual 'beats' to plot out before I even start writing.
Highly recommended.

An easy to read and insightful book on screen writing (though it applies equally well to other fors of story telling as well), covering main points you need to consider when writing (and selling) your movie script. Blake Snyder is an industry professional with plenty of examples to back up his assertions (and a nice sense of humour too).

Thank you Blake Snyder for writing this book! Written in an engaging manner, easy to read, well planned out and executed, Save the Cat! provides you with the information you need to not only understand what you are doing while writing your screenplay, but also gets you started on the right footing. He covers all the bases and leaves all the theoretical naval-grazing to the other books of this topic. This is a must-have for anyone seriously contemplating writing a screenplay.

Blake Snyder's exuberant writing style will get you excited about story structure and writing. I love his chapter on the immutable laws (I might have misphrased that) of screenwriting - a couple of those really struck me and I can see immediate application to my work. A great read.
