Originally from Michigan -- the Mitten State! -- Alison learned the value of a good book and an excellent sandwich early on. After earning a journalism degree from the University of Missouri, she started her career as a writer and editor. Alison currently lives in Chicago, Illinois, where she makes, eats, and talks about as many sandwiches as humanly possible.
Deering and Lentz compose a veritable love letter to the sandwich,
including recipes for (and tidbits about) more than 50 examples,
from basic bologna to tuna melts, reubens, and cheesesteaks. Lentz
works in a brash, comic-book style: sauces and cheese ooze from the
completed sandwiches on left-hand pages, while exploded versions of
each sandwich showcase the individual layers and components.--
