What links can Phryne Fisher find between the ridiculously entertaining plot of "Ruddigore," the Chinese community of Little Bourke Street, the actors treading the boards of His Majesty's Theatre, and a bizarre on-stage death?
Reviews
Australian author Kerry Greenwood succeeds brilliantly at capturing the drama behind the scenes of a theatrical production in her 1920s-era whodunit, Ruddy Gore: A Phryne Fisher Mystery, in which her series heroine must solve not one but two murders that occur on stage during a performance of Gilbert and Sullivan's Ruddigore. A bonus is the subplot detailing how Phryne met her longtime Chinese paramour, Lin Chung. Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.

On her way to the theatre in a silver dress Phryne Fisher saves a handsome Chinese man and his grandmother from muggers. Somehow though there are links between the a ttempted mugging, the production of a new gilbert and sullivan spectacular but does one really care. The plot is contrived and overwrought and the characters bland.
