I was given this book by my sister, she said it was" horrific and terrifying" in the best possible way. i had high expectations and while i found the book to be much less violent than i anticipated it WAS terrifying. The author manages to convey a hoplessness and desperation with very little actual danger to the characters... yet i spent the entire book on the edge of my seat with knots in my stomach. A harsh look into what could one day be a reality.

Beautifully written, dark and moving. Very hard to put down and utterly enthrawling, entirely worth it for it's poetic prose and dramatic imagery, it sucks you right into a post-apocalyptic world and the two characters' struggle for survival.

As the winner of the Pulitzer Prize, I thought 'The Road' would be an interesting read. I am not normally into 'dark' and 'apocolyptic' type of genres, so this book was very different to what I am accustomed to reading. I did not hate the book but it didn't grasp me as much as it has others. I found the book repetitive and plotless. Even in the end I had questions yet to be answered. Overall, the book was addictive as I was eager to find out whether there would be any developments in the plot but unfortunately it was not a standout read for me. I have not seen the movie.

Much more gruesome than the movie, some of the more horrifying moments in the book didn't make it into the movie, so it does seem like a bit different tale. It goes into a lot more detail too. If you were fascinated by the movie or even confused a bit; you will find the book much more satisfying. It's very addictive.
