In the 14th installment of Robb's (aka Nora Roberts) futuristic In Death series, Lieutenant Eve Dallas and her husband, Roarke, celebrate their first anniversary--which will be one they, nor fans of this series, never forget!
Reviews
The most recent chapter of Robb's popular series features Lt. Eve Dallas facing a recently released murderer back to get even. Early in her career, Eve testified against Julianna Dunn, and, during her incarceration, Julianna has been planning how to confuse, humiliate, and ultimately destroy her. This violent reunion begins with the poisoning of middle-aged, wealthy men in seemingly innocuous circumstances on Eve's New York City beat and soon looks like it will culminate with the killing of her husband, Roark. Disconcerting houseguests, a tense visit into Eve's childhood in the city of Dallas, and a comic scene searching for clues in the New York underworld add to the plot and give reader Susan Ericksen the opportunity to charm the listener thoroughly. Her reading is full of color: her accent, pitch, and pacing all add to the listening experience and make this one difficult tape to pause. I have every book in this series and only wish J.D. Robb would write one every month. I could never give or sell any of my collection as I re-read them all the time. Thank you J.D. Robb and please NEVEr stop writing these books.
Well really what's to say... if you're a JD Robb fan and love Roarke & Dallas you'll love this one too! Like all of the in Death series it's just that little bit unpredictable, and a whole lot of enjoyable! As 2059 comes closer I wonder just how much of what is in the world of Roarke & Dallas will be fact and how much will continue to be fiction. While not a fan of science fiction I love this series! Long live the in Death series!
Another fine example of how Nora Roberts/J D Robb manages to avoid the typical. It's quite remarkable how this talented lady has produced so many fine books in this series, particularly without falling into the traps many serial writers do (such as involving the main character in multiple lurid affairs or killing off beloved characters just to make a change). The villain in this book is interesting, and the duel between cop and criminal fascinating to watch as it unfolds.
