This is a very large comprehensive book on religions of the ancient world. It is a scholarly work but is quite different to other books in the same genre.
This book is written thematically rather than just being strictly by culture as is the norm.
Each culture is studies comparatively under each theme. Cultures include, greece, rome, mesopotamia, syria, canaan, israel, anatolia, iran, minoan/mycenaean, etruria and early christian.
