These books are really very good. They are exciting, and keep you wondering what's going to happen. I thought it was excellent writing, and brilliant characters that the reader can identify with and really feel for. There is wonderful description, and plenty of interesting things for the reader to read between the lines, it really makes you feel that you are there. I can't wait for the next book! I think these books are perfect for 10-12 year olds. On the whole, an excellent series with brilliant description and fantastic imagination!

This is one of the best series for boys and girls aged 8 - 16 in the current market, but this does not mean that adults will not enjoy them just as much. Not since Harry Potter have I found a series that I can read to my nieces, enjoy myself, and then pass onto my Mother who is over 60.

The whole series has a wonderful morale underlying each story and it is the tradition right versus wrong, but it is also about how even the smallest and weakest can become the hero and save the day. I liked learning that originally the author had started writing the stories for his Son, who was smaller then average and got teased for it.

The writing has a wonderful descriptive style that draws the reader in and the characters are well developed, you tend to invest in the characters and care what happens to them.

I recommend this series to children and adults alike.
