This is a great first poetry book; the poems span time, from Robert Louis Stevenson and Walter de la Mare right up to date with Roger McGough and Michael Rosen. Themes covered, such as mealtimes, playtime, animals, family and bedtime, really appeal to youngreaders.

Disappointing. Boring. A small number of clever poems but the majority are lacking in depth and wisdom and are basically just rhymes about issues such as how fun it would be if a dinasaur ate a school. Furthermore, in almost each section of the book, the author has included a poem by herself. Not a very unbiased selection by the editor to include so many of her own works
