I just picked up this book again at the BCNZ library and although technical and complex, Bruggerman does a thorough job of challenging his readers to consider the role of the prophet in the royal empire and how they were criticizing the Empire that seeks to numb its kingdom and set them in routine. The prophet criticizes and then Energizes an alternative community to establish a new conscience for living in God's Kingdom. He does this looking at characters like Moses, Elijah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, etc. Hard read but good
