Only costs $15 - and worth about half that. Completely outdated, having been printed in 1946 and reprinted in 1950 something. Crude line drawings for illustrations and dealing with nothing more advanced in technology than tuning fork electric watches that went out in 1970. Some relevant information on how escapements etc work, but lacking in information that the supposed target audience would find useful, such as removing movements. Not recommended.
Wonderfully detailed and helpful illustrations. A great sized and handy, must have book for the serious pocketwatch collecter and repairer. This book is well written and thoughtfully laid out .De Carle is an English author and therefore I found him a more helpful one for the English rather than American brands of watches. I couldn't manage without the help of this book... one of the most informative and useful I have come across' in my hobby of Horology.
