After escaping the prison that was theirs for over three years, the three remaining "Flowers of the Attic" escape to find a new home with Dr Paul Sheffield, a widowed doctor. There in a secure and loving home, Cathy, still bitter about her Mother's betrayal, begins plotting revenge.
This book is bitter sweet, as Cathy throws away true love and happiness to embark on "getting even with Mama". Cathy becomes a twisted obsessed character, who not only uses people to get to her Mother, but hurting those who love her dearly. In the end, the reader is left wondering who Cathy's vengence hurts more, her mother or herself.
Very different from the first book, and only slightly less enjoyable. Highly recomended.

The first book of this series was very good, although this book is good it is not written with the same eloquence as Flowers in the Attic. Cathy is obsessed with revenge and the whole plot revolves around this and there is very little else explored in the book. The book is good, however, the story line could have fitted into half the book and it does not compare to the style of the first in the series.

I found this book difficult to get through as Cathy, the main character, is obsessed with paying back her mother for what she did to her and her siblings when they were young children. This wanting of revenge becomes very repititious as Cathy goes around selfishly bringing pain to other peoples lives as well as her own.
