When they're not thus frolicking, the couple glower disapprovingly at their married hostess, Kitty Glossup, who flings herself at male guests and a gardener or two. Half way through the book, Portia stumbles over Kitty's corpse and finds that she, too, is a target. Simon and Portia help a police inspector plan a scheme that causes further jeopardy for Portia, then a rousing conclusion and matrimonial bliss-no surprise, given there was never any serious obstacle between the young lovers. This was one of my favorite Cynster series books. Portia is a smart, sassy, courageous heroine. Simon is cool, intriguing, and smart. Very sexy, hot, progressive love scenes. Good story line. A who-done-it that adds to the plot. A fun, adventurous read.

Portia's decided she wants kids. It's an unwelcome thought, because she knows that in her class you can't just choose the perfect father and get on with it - and live your own life after. No, she has to marry...but that doesn't mean she has to lose control with it. She can just find a nice, biddable man, not at all like her childhood enemy Simon...who just coincidentally happens to be thinking of marriage too...

Simon Frederick Cynster knows that a perfect bride--and a perfect lover--are one and the same. So he sets about finding a mate to suit his needs--someone who will be a perfect lady by day... and a wanton lover by night.
But Simon is not about to broadcast his search to the entire town and run the risk of every dowager foisting her flighty charges upon him. Instead, he carefully begins his search at a house party at Glossup Hall--and is astonished when wilfully independent Portia Ashford immediately captures his interest.
He's known her since childhood and certainly never considered her a potential wife--until an unexpectedly heated kiss changes his mind forever. But as he and Portia begin to explore the depths of their passion, a shocking event occurs--one that puts Portia in deadly peril, and that will require Simon to use his considerable strength and influence to protect his once and always perfect lover.

I love a sexy romance....this is perfect for my fantasises....Sexy, erotic, romantic, PERFECT..LOVE IT! Good holiday or summer read. Perfect if you hate anything to deep and meaningful...Great to read as you soak up the sun, on the plane or even as you wait anxiously in the dentist waiting room...lol....Fun, sassy book perfect for the twenty and thirty somethings waiting to sink their teeth into something footloose and fancy free... I love the passion!
