Humans seem hardwired to react to giant pandas with a sigh and a smile. They are cute, cuddly, and playful. They are also wild animals, though, and this book introduces kids to pandas and their environments both in zoos and in the wild. This high-interest, educationally vetted series of beginning readers features the magnificent images of National Geographic, accompanied by texts written by experienced, skilled children's book authors. The inside back cover of the paperback edition is an interactive feature based upon the book.

I bought this for my Grade One son who is just starting to read independently and it is perfect for him. I found some of the sentences a bit cliche but he loves the book! The pictures are fantastic. The book covers panda habitat, eating, day in the life of, the impact of the 2009 earthquake on the panda reserve in China plus more. A good reader style book for young kids.
