About the Author
Yotam Ottolenghi's path to the world of cooking and baking has been anything but straightforward. Having completed a Masters degree in philosophy and literature whilst working on the news desk of an Israeli daily, he made a radical shift on coming to London in 1997. He started as an assistant pastry chef at the Capital and then worked at Kensington Place and Launceston Place, where he ran the pastry section. Yotam subsequently worked for Maison Blanc and then Baker and Spice, before starting his own eponymous group of restaurants/food shops, with branches in Notting Hill, Islington and Kensington. Sami Tamimi's intimate engagement with food started at a tender age, whilst watching his mother prepare Palestinian delicacies at their home within the walls of Arab East Jerusalem. His first job was as a commis chef at the Mount Zion hotel in the city. He thereafter investigated some of his culinary passions, including the food of Yemen, Morocco, Egypt, Persia and even the Eastern European Jewish communities. In 1997 he moved from Tel Aviv to London to work at Baker and Spice, creating a unique traiteur section with the strong identifiable flavours of the Middle East. In 2002 he teamed up with Yotam to open Ottolenghi.

My newest and now most favourite cookbook (aside from "Go Fish" by Al Brown). Same philosophy as Al's, which is fresh, unadulterated food without the fuss keeping the integrity of the produce intact. Beautiful foreward, beautiful flavour combinations making you want to pick this book up and use the recipes. Highly recommended book if you want to reignite your culinary juices. You will not be disappointed!
Can not recommend this book enough! Every recipe I have tried in this is delicious. I have been looking for a cookbook with colourful, TASTY vegetarian dishes for ages and the ones in this are so vibrant. Vegetarian food for foodies!
This book is not likely to sit on the bookshelf gathering dustmites. The recipes are unique yet very accessible and easy to make. The flavours are a very delicious mix of Middle Eastern, French and 'everyday' favourites. One thing that makes this book very special for me, is that the recipes themselves make superb food but that they are also inspirational; I found myself trying the dishes a second time with my own variations - something I am not usually brave enough to do.
JUST GET IT. A fabulous present for foodies, particularly since its not seen in bookstores in Australia or NZ.
this is a fabulous cook book, so good that I have ordered Plenty by the same author and both books for my daughter. The recipes are different, healthy, easy to follow and the finished dishes are delicious.
Beautiful wholesome food that will fill you up, but can also be healthy. Great baking/dessert recipes, really yummy stuff. If you're a foody who wants to add a book to your collection - this is great. The chefs at this restaurant are italian/middle eastern and so if garlic and lemon and olive oil are some of your favourite ingredients - buy this book!
