About the Author

Dr. Aladar Czitrovszky is the deputy director of the Institute, department head of the dept. of Laser Application, and senior scientific adviser at the Research Institute for Solid State Physics and Optics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (HAS) in Budapest, Hungary. Having obtained his Ph.D. at the Lorand Eotvos University (Budapest) and D.Sc. at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, he established the Ph.D. school in Pecs University, and organised 2 spin-off companies. As a visiting professor he spent some time in Rome (Universita la Sapienca, Faculta Fisica/Energetica). He established a co-operation with the University of Vienna (Dept of Aerosols), the Institute for Quantum Optics (Garching, Germany), Boston University (USA), and Maximilian University (Munich, Germany). He headed a number of international and national projects, and has invented 13 patents. Professor Czitrovszky has authored over 200 scientific publications, and has received numerous scientific awards, including the Award for Invention of the HAS, the Denis Gabor Award, the J. Petzval Award, the National Academic Award, etc. He is also the president of the Hungarian Aerosol Society, sits in the Committee for Laser Physics of the HAS, is a member of the Junge Award Committee, GAeF, EOS, etc. Between 2008-2010, he was the president of the European Aerosol Assembly.
