After being made to leave Indian territory the family move to a dugout by the banks of Plum Creek. Laura and Mary go to school for the first time in Walnut creek. Pa builds a big house with new windows, but then the grass hoppers come and eat the wheat crop... Find out why this series has been in print for more than 70 years...

Another wonderful book in the "Little House" series. This is the third book and tells how the family moves again. This time to Plum creek.
At first the family live in a little dug out house dug into the side of a rise beside a creek. It is very exciting when a flood comes and the water laps around the top step right next to their front door.
Pa builds them a beautiful little house with glass windows and a real door...
There are trials with hard winters and grasshoppers ruining their crops.
There are great lessons to be learnt about not going into debt and responsibility.
Laura is disobedient and nearly loses her life in the creek and another time is asked to cross the creek to save her mother in the middle of a flood! It really is another exciting episode in the series.
My children have enjoyed the stories as much as me. They are books you will be happy to read and reread!
I recommend this series and the "Rose years" by Roger Lea MacBride.
