I have read and re-read this book, cover to cover, and I recommend it to all families I know. This is not just a book for those with "difficult" children, it is a book for every family. Our son has always been easy to deal with, but now I think he finds us easier to deal with since we have read this book. Just the filling up of the emotional tank has been a super technique. This is THE BOOK for parents who are searching for one book that deals with all the aspects of raising their children to become independent, self confident people. I recommend reading it cover to cover the first couple of times and then dip in and out for specifics as you get familiar with the techniques described.

I have read this book many times and continue to go back to it. It is a common sense, practical and successfull approach to parenting. I have read many parenting books and rate this the best by a long shot. Buy it and keep it by the bed!

A Bible for those who which to survive the of years of chellenges thrown at you, as a parent, by your child/ren. Written by a New Zealander for the New Zealand environment/culture. It is a witty, educational, entertaining book, without the preaching or making you feel like a failing bad parent! Lots of achievable, practical advice. A great gift for any new (or old) parent!
