This title presents Homer's best-loved and most accessible poem, recounting the great wandering of Odysseus during his ten-year voyage back home to Ithaca, after the Trojan War. This is a superb new verse translation, now published in trade paperback, before the standard Penguin Classic B format.

I had tried to read The Odyssey quite a few times as a teenager, and even though I eventually got there in the end, I wish I had had Robert Fagles’ wonderful translation to read. It is a breath of fresh air compared to some of the older, stilted versions I had to endure. The poetry is excellent, as is the introductory essay. This is the translation to have.
