An inspiring book of a man who has suffered so much in his life. Although long, it was tracing a long journey and therefore the reader does not feel oppressed: there is an awareness that, eventually, everything will work out. It is eye opening to the conditions suffered by many during apartheid and it is heart wrenching to know the world stood by and watched.

A truly enthralling book. The endurance and courage of a man that stood his ground, fought for what he believed in and was prepared to suffer the consequences for his cause, can only be described as heroic. This book will give you a better insight into the man that has become an icon in his own country. You will discover the real story and the truth behind his incarceration.

I am only half way through but enjoying the book immensely. Nelson has an easy going nature and doesn't appear to take himself too seriously.
