This is the first in a series that I highly recommend as well as the books with his dialogues with Crossan and Borg. Marcus Borg also has important things to say so their dialogue is very interesting. I recommend reading his book Following Jesus first to see where he is going, and then reading this series if you want the scholarship behind it. This book really has changed my understanding of scripture.
