Written at the height of her fame but not published until over a decade after her death, this autobiography of actress and sex symbol Marilyn Monroe (1926-1962) poignantly recounts her childhood as an unwanted orphan, her early adolescence, her rise in the film industry from bit player to celebrity, and her marriage to Joe DiMaggio.
About the Author
Marilyn Monroe was a film actress whose seductive screen presence shot her to stardom as a sex symbol. After she was mysteriously found dead of a drug overdose at the age of 36, the movie star became a beloved pop icon. Journalist, novelist, and Oscar-winning screenwriter of Underworld, Ben Hecht (1893-1964) assisted Marilyn in the creation of My Story.
Reviews
Though now dead longer than she was alive, Monroe continues to captivate and hypnotize. Released in 1974, a dozen years after her apparent suicide, this book is attributed to Monroe, although she had help from her friend Oscar-winning screenwriter Ben Hecht. Monroe offers biographical material as well as dirt on fellow Hollywood stars. Best to take some of this with a grain of salt but good fun nonetheless. Monroe's legions of fans will keep this one circulating. Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information.

marilyn monroe is one of the most well remembered and well loved actresses holly wood has ever seen, but many do not know that behind that blonde sex bomb facade there was a very lost little girl who had never really belonged to any body, and tried to find her self in the hearts of audiences
