About the Author
Lynley Dodd is New Zealand's bestselling children's author/illustrator and has an international following. My Cat Likes to Hide in Boxes was her first foray into children's books and was a collaboaration with her cousin by marriage, Eve Sutton. Her first Hairy Maclary book was published in 1983 and her subsequent stories have become firm favourites. Lynley lives in Tauranga, New Zealand, with her husband Tony, and a fiendish Burmese cat, Suu Kyi.
Without doubt a chilhood fave, though I recall a squarer book with a white cover. It is a book that a cute, funny read any small child/beginning reader would love and cherish!
Bought this book for my nephew on his 5th birthday, he doesnt know how to read properly yet and his mum started reading this book and he picked up the rhyming straight away and was finishing the lines about the cats it was great - love it.
This book is a firm favourite with several generations of children in our family. The catching rhyming and repetition make it easy for them to remember (and for me to read!) and i think most kids love the thought of hide and seek.
My 3 year old niece loves it and when i say BUT she immediately repeats MY CAT LOVES TO HIDE IN BOXES.

I love this book. It reminds me of watching Play School as a child and now reading it to my daughter, I see she loves this book as well. The pictures are so cute as well! Would recommend for a young child who likes cats!
