Roger Olson is a theologian worth reading. His huge coverage of the history of Christian theology "The Story of Christian Theology: Twenty Centuries of Tradition & Reform" (1999) is superb.

In this companion volume, Olson explores the tensions of unity & diversity in historical theology, e.g. the tension between monergism (God sovereign in salvation) and synergism (God and human beings together), or between the oneness and threeness of God, or the Kingdom of God as both now & not yet...

Olson is a trustworthy and sensitive guide through these waters, showing that tension often exists in our theological understanding. Superb...
