This book is definitely my favourite of the Avalon series, admittedly partly because it's the first one I read. Morgaine is just the most excellent character, so easy to relate to and all her experiences come to life because they are so well described. From her shameful first marriage to her passionate second love, this book is full of triumph, scandal, adversity and magic. Very highly recommended.
