I thought this book was great, from detailing her clinical, cold, institutionalized training in Scotland to her finally setting up her own freelance midwifery service for the Amish community in Pennsylvania.
My favorite bits were the birth stories, and this rare insight into the Amish and how they cope with labour and childbirth and the emotions that come with it was fascinating.
