About the Author

Valerie B. Parkhouse was born in Mombasa, Kenya, to British parents. She moved, aged 3, to South Africa. She spent 1962 in England and in 1963 emigrated to the United States. In 1976 she married Gerald Parkhouse. From 1977-1985 they lived in the U.K. and subsequently in Elmira, N.Y. Valerie became a U.S. citizen in 1980. Her interests are history and needlework.
