A ridiculously in-depth guide to the world of comics. This book will introduce you to the major themes and concepts that make a comic successful; captivating characters, engaging story, and a visually alluring style. What it will NOT teach you is how to draw, or how to become a better artist. There are books out there specifically on that subject. Further, the book is mainly comic orientated; it does touch upon manga, but barely. If you want to learn manga specifically, there are, again, better books out there for that. But in any case, this book has taught me a lot in terms of making me THINK more about what I do and don't put on the page; as made clear in this book, sometimes it's what you leave out that makes all the difference.
