About the Author

Rajyashree Kumari Bikaner is the daughter of Dr Karni Singh, maharaja of Bikaner and Maharani Sushila Kumari. She holds the unique distinction of having won at age seven, the National Air Rifle Championship. She was awarded the prestigious Arjuna Award in 1969 at the age of sixteen. She is a keen preserver of ancestral forts, palaces and cenotaphs belonging to the Bikaner family and is working on several projects concerning renovation and restoration of the Lallgarh Palace hotel in Bikaner. She founded a public charitable trust in 1999, the Maharaja Dr Karni Singhji Memorial Foundation that carries out philanthropic activities.
