This series of books by Enid Blyton are just fantastic. They have changed a few of the characters names slightly from the original story, eg. Fannie to Frannie and Dick to Rick but they still inspire the same imagination as they always have. You will enjoy the wonderous adventures the children get up to with their friends as they journey to the top of The Faraway Tree.

this is another excellent book in the series about jo bessie and fanny, and the faraway tree that is right in their doorstep. the children have many a fun day with this tree, as there are so many funny characters that live in it, and who they travel to faraway lands with, like the land of toys. this is a real treat for kids to read!

Enid Blyton was the best and most prolific childrens writer. If you have the chance to read the originals...they are far better than the re printed ones of today. Obviously customer review 23/11/2009 you have no imagination what so ever, and have problems with those who are different from you. Enid Blyton books were filled with good lessons in life. Good morals, ethics, good kids, great parents, nature lessons, hospitality, whimsical, fantasy, light heartedness, the list is endless.
Many of us grew up with Enid Blyton on our bookshelves. With over 700 titles, plays, poetry, etc. She was wonderful.

My daughter and I really enjoyed the first book in this series, but to be honest with this sequel it appears Enid Blyton ran out of ideas. Most chapters are a variation on the theme of 'some or all of the main characters go into the land above, something goes wrong, one gets captured and the others must rescue them, they then return to the tree'. This was fine for the first 20 chapters of the first book, but doing it another 20 times gets a little stale. And you start noticing many of the characters are just plain weird and very one dimensional. And how come the Mum is just fine with all these plainly other worldly creatures popping over for tea, and with letting her children roam in the forest at night?
So: first one good, this one getting old, we'll probably give the others a miss.
