This is a superb book about one of the most famous painters ever, Vincent van Gogh, who, despite his subsequent fame, was nevertheless completely ignored during his lifetime and struggled to survive. From his early days training in for the seminary to his initial attempts at painting, this novel potrays a man driven and tortured by his passion for his art, and supported by his brother Theo. Reading this will renew your appreciation for van Gogh and his perseverance in the face of indifference and illness.
