A well written book (as you would expect from J D Robb), with a few nice little twists to keep you guessing. It was good to meet Peabody's brother, Zeke, and his inclusion seemed to me an indication of the increasing importance of Peabody to the series. Peabody has gradually inched her way up from an occasional to a supporting to (in later books) a main character, and this book is in my opinion the first in which she takes on the latter role.
Loyalty in Death by J D Robb.
Loyalty in Death is another book in the Eve Dallas series written by J D Robb. This book is set in New York City in the year 2059 and follows the exploits of Lieutenant Eve Dallas of the New York Police and Security Department, homicide division.
After dealing with what appears to be a simple murder after a domestic dispute Dallas receives a warning that a warehouse would be blown up. The warning comes from a mysterious group calling itself Cassandra, after the prophetess in Greek mythology.
Responding to the threat Dallas arrives in time to see the warehouse explode. Fortunately the warehouse was empty; Dallas soon notes that the warehouse is owned by her husband, the incredibly rich Roark.
Dallas and her team realise that Cassandra is linked to a disbanded terrorist group called Apollo. Apollo had been responsible for the deaths of thousands and it appears Cassandra wants to do the same. Dallas and her team, with her husband, whose buildings are being targeted, leap into action before to many innocent people are killed.
In the midst of this chaos arrives the brother of Dallas’ assistant, Peabody. This innocent young man from the country soon has troubles of his own to deal with. An unwelcome distraction for Peabody in the midst of a major investigation.
Can Dallas and her team discover who Cassandra is and stop them before to many innocent people die? What are Cassandra’s goals anyway? And will Peabody’s brother pay a high price for his innocence and his desire to help others?
This is a beautifully written book full of excitement and intrigue. Deeply sensual, this book is a truly wonderful read. I highly recommend it and all the other books in the Eve Dallas series. Well done J D Robb.
